| A Golden Dried
Plum |
| In 1856, during
the Gold Rush, the La Petite d'Agen plum was brought
from France to California by brothers Louis and Pierre Pellier.
The plant was grafted with the wild American Plum and the California
dried plum was born. |

(Prunes) provide vitamin A, beta-carotene, mineral nutrients
such as magnesium and fiber, in a concentrated form. Vitamin
A and beta-carotene, a preliminary state of vitamin A, belong
to the group of fat-soluble vitamins. As the name suggests,
these vitamins are only soluble in fat. In the human body, the
resorption of such vitamins are supported by fats. It is therefore
important that foods such as prunes, which contain such vitamins,
are consumed in combination with fats. |

Prunes are ideal for spring diets
and as natural digestive aids. Prunes rank first because they
contain more than twice the antioxidants of other content-rich
fruits, such as blueberries and raisins.
